Players nominated as one of Mayor's Charities

The new Mayor for Nantwich, Cllr Christine Farrall, has nominated 3 local organisations as her Charities for the coming year. They are Nantwich Players (hurray!), the Nantwich Museum and Nantwich in Bloom.

Cllr Farrall, who took over as Mayor from Cllr John Lewis, said Nantwich Players has a 'well-deserved' reputation' in the North West, with the museum acting as a reminder of the town's history.

Nantwich Players Chairman Jeremy Acklam said he looked forward to welcoming the new Mayor to a future production at the theatre.

Lifetime Award for Margaret

Congratulations to Margaret Boschi for receiving a Lifetime Achievement Award from Youth Federation, a charity which supports more than 500 youth organisations across the North West. Margaret was presented with her award during the Celebrating Youth Awards evening, held at Mid-Cheshire College, Northwich on 27th March.

Margaret was nominated for her work with the Wistaston Young Drama Group, which she started 20 years ago, and is still keenly involved with. Drama has been her life-long passion, which began in childhood and has seen her a member of various theatre groups, including being a member of Nantwich Players for the last 12 years.

Nominations for the award came from fellow leaders and, says Margaret, “the letter just arrived and was a total surprise!”. Our photo shows Margaret, left, with her Lifetime Achievement Award and Emma Rogerson, another award recipient on what was a very memorable evening.

"NANTWICH LIFE 2" by Gareth Roberts

Good news for those of us who enjoyed Nantwich Life by Gareth Roberts, as his second volume, Nantwich Life 2 has just been published.

Following on from his previous successful formula, Gareth informs and entertains us with further tales of people and groups in the town. What is particularly interesting is that the book is full of all new material, which just goes to show the wealth of fascinating people connected to Nantwich.

Nantwich Life 2 is available now from the theatre bar (during productions) and from Nantwich Bookshop in the High Street, priced at £9.95, with proceeds going to the Nantwich Theatre Project. Ideal for a Christmas present!
